Whilst the parade was being assembled, the parents enjoyed looking at the 19 Flower arrangements, all of which showed skill and imagination and amounted to a stunning display. The 28 bridesmaids were aged from 2 – 16 years, their appearance from “cute” to “sophisticated”. The Parade went off very well – with a few of the “moments” that always occur with small children and greatly add to the fun and the memories. Plenty of time left to enjoy the teas, ices etc. and stock up on books and plants.
The Jazz evening also went very well. We normally consider “capacity” in the Church
to be around 100, on Saturday we had 106, plus some hardy souls who sat outside in
one of the gazebos – no seats left -
On Sunday the wind soon dispelled any “morning after” feeling as we had to concentrate on stopping the borrowed gazebos and tents from blowing away. At least it was sunny, and in the afternoon, Blo Norton Hall gardens proved an irresistible attraction for 138 visitors. The gardens and the Hall were beautiful, and everyone felt privileged to be able to look round. Half an hour’s bell ringing brought a good congregation back to the Church for a “Songs of Praise” type service featuring favourite Wedding hymns to round off the weekend.
In total, £2363 was raised for the Church, after various expenses were cleared. A
huge “Thank You” is due to all who contributed, Joan’s Committee, the many other
helpers, the people who loaned tents and gazebos, the members of the Brandeston Pickles,
the bridesmaids, bell ringers, and the residents of the Hall. All-
